Here you will get to know the groups and companies with whom we have designed this City Guide together.
With more than 3,000 members, the city’s largest photography group is “Fotografieren in und um Leipzig” (photography in and around Leipzig). It is open to all people interested – whether they are beginners, hobbyists or professional photographers. Members regularly meet for photo walks, workshops and bike rides, where they enjoy their common hobby. In their group, they discuss cameras, lenses and many other topics related to photography. In addition, the group offers a platform to present their own photographs. Regular photo contests encourage members to try out and experiment new things related to photography.
In the “Hostel & Garten Eden” in the west of Leipzig, all rooms were designed by local artists. Street scenes from Lindenau, handmade furniture, wall illustrations and macrame provide each room with its very own charm. The large garden is maintained by the four owners and invites you to relax and enjoy your surroundings. Thanks to its proximity to the city center, the hotel is an ideal starting point to discover Leipzig.
If you like racing bikes and prefer cross-country, on forest and dirt roads and small trails, then the “Rennrad und Cross Touren Leipzig und Region” (road bike and cross tours Leipzig and region), is perfect for you. Here, the members talk about the best routes, arrange to go on joint tours and find out about upcoming bike races. On their tours, they explore the surroundings of Leipzig at speeds of 20km/h or more. The group also organizes regular night rides on different days of the week to which all members are invited.
“Saxonia Throwdown” takes place on July 13, 2019 for the first time in Leipzig. This is an international crossfit event with individual, master 35+ and mixed team competitions. CrossFit is a comprehensive fitness training method combining aspects of different exercises and sports to train the entire body. The competitive sport with the same name also derives from this training method which has been developed over the years. On the Facebook page for the event, members talk about topics related to the Saxonia Throwdown, share their anticipation for the 13th of July and the administrators provide up-to-date information.
The group “brett-spiel-kultur” (board game culture) is aimed at all participants and those interested in match meet-ups with the university group that bears the same name. These take place twice a week at the HTWK Leipzig. The members play well-known games such as Werewolf, Wizard or The Settlers of Catan. In the group, organized questions around the game meetings are clarified and those questions put to the university group are answered.
